Chapter 8

The smell of bacon set Abby’s stomach to growling. She rolled over and rubbed her eyes.

She was alone.

Abby looked around the room. The furniture, though simple in design, was made from oak. The walls were painted a soft dove gray, and the curtains were midnight blue.

Abby sat up, pulling the sheet so it covered her ample breasts. She frowned as she looked around. The room was void of picture and paintings, but the blue and gray theme continued from the comforter and bedding to the rug on the wood floor. In the corner by the dresser sat several luggage bags—several very familiar luggage bags.

Abby jerked her head to the doorway, where Skylar leaned against the doorframe. “I think you need glasses.”

“When I woke up this morning with you snuggled against me, I was afraid to move. I didn’t want you to disappear and the dream to end.”

Skylar crossed the room and put his hands on the sides of Abby’s face, turning it up towards him. “I don’t want to wake up and find you gone.” He pressed his lips against hers. The kiss started out sweet and gently, but it grew and deepened.
